Tournament Overview

The Tasmanian Game Fishing Association is thrilled to announce that Tasmania will be hosting the prestigious Australian International Billfish Tournament (AIBT) for the first time in its remarkable 61-year history! This highly anticipated event has garnered immense excitement among fishing enthusiasts across the nation.

This contest is the first International Billfish Tournament to be run in Australian waters featuring the magnificent Broadbill Swordfish (Xiphias Gladius) as the prominent billfish species found in Tasmania. This tournament represents a monumental occasion for gamefish enthusiasts, as the Broadbill Swordfish is widely regarded as the ultimate sea gladiator, embodying the pinnacle of game fishing. Tasmania, renowned for its well-researched and sustainable Australian fishery, has garnered global attention for its remarkable record-breaking catches in recent times.

Briefing

The Tournament Briefing will be held Friday 05 April, at Spring Bay Mill in Triabunna. Accommodation and boat parking available.

Location

The Tournament will be conducted on the East Coast of Tasmania.

Presentations

The Tournament Dinner and Presentations will be held Saturday 20 April, at Spring Bay Mill in Triabunna. Accommodation and boat parking available.

Tassie Accommodation

Program

The tournament will be conducted over 14-day period commencing Saturday 06 April 2024, and concluding Friday 19 April 2024. Teams will nominate up to 7 days of fishing within the 14-day period.
